Genesis 18:1-6  “And Yahweh appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;  And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,  And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:  And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make ASHCAKES upon the hearth.”

It seems very contradictory, that a sweet bread, would show Israel's misery. It this bread, really the bread of affliction?

Or, was Deuteronomy 16:3, expressing something else?

We are asked to eat sweet bread. Fresh new dough, that revived Israel, when they arrived at Succoth. Matzah bread, is what marks the the event. It is a Spring event, a time of renewal and green. A time of reviving and life! The dough on their backs, represents them CARRYING LIFE.

This is just like Noah's ark. How in a state of green and renewal, Abib 1, the door opened. An olive sprig was the sign, the time was ready for renewal. The flood was over. Winter, was over.

In matzah, you don't use the day old lump, and add it to your fresh dough. It's all fresh! This is a wonderful sign! And I truly discount the scholars, who claim the matzah is the bread of affliction!

Affliction-was brought out of the land of Egypt?

How could that be matzah, by reasoning of definition?

I have come to see, it was Israel leaving Egypt, in a hurry, that was the affliction, not the bread!

And what marks this day of life? THE MATZAH -FRESH AND ALIVE!

Yahoshua Messiah, and the representation of himself, is not AFFLICTION, BUT LIFE!

I hope you understand. Please, study the link for yourself. See what you come up with.

INTERESTING FACT

They actually baked the bread 77 miles later! Ave. 20 hours of travel time- so they would have been eating it in the late afternoon. The dough very well, rose at least some, for any dough will rise, from just sitting. See post 2/2 for more on the state of the cooked bread!

The sweet ashcakes, brought the Israelite's life!

Without it, what would they have done?

They left their misery of Egypt.

It can very well be said, that they LEFT in misery.

But there is also joy in this whole story, for they were redeemed and delivered out of their bondage.

There is joy in the symbolism, of the sweet bread of life, that they carried out on their shoulders, and received renewal out of it~

Shalom~
